How to cleanse your crystals

Why, when and how should you cleanse your Gemstones or Jewellery?

Over time you may feel your gemstones or jewellery are not working for you in the way they originally did, and this is when you need to then think about cleansing and setting your own intentions. Think of it like an untidy room that needs a bit of TLC.

____

There are many ways to cleanse gemstones, no one way is better than the other, but extra care should be taken when you have a collection of different gemstones in an item. For example, some gemstones are water soluble and thus it is best to avoid water. So because of this diverse case Calm Blue C recommends choosing from the following cleansing options:

Selenite

Selenite is a unique gemstone, it cleanses other gemstones! You can place your Jewellery on a selenite plate or place next to a Selenite tumble stone to cleanse overnight or through the day.

This is by far the easiest and our favoured method.

Water

Water is one way we cleanse ourselves so it makes sense that this will also cleanse our gems. This can be done in a freshwater stream or, more conveniently, from your home tap with cold water, and some hand wash if you like, unless they are physically dirty what we need to mainly achieve is the visualization of cleansing, washing away the spent energy and seeing them basking in a bright white cleansing light. Be careful though as there are some gemstones/crystals that do not fare well in water. For example, Selenite can dissolve to nothing and Fluorite can lose its vibrant colour.

The Moon

We are all aware of how powerful the moon is. For gemstones, moonlight is a good deep cleanser and charger. The energy is the most powerful during the new moon and full moon cycles and this is the best time to use this method. Otherwise, it could take a few nights to get the full benefit.

Lay your Jewellery in a moonlit area, out in the garden if it is not going to rain or on your window ledge.

The Sun can be great for certain gemstones but many will fade and go dull so it is best to avoid it; a short spell of 20mins would probably cause no harm, but do try and avoid direct scorching sunlight.

Smudging

Light a sage bundle and let the leaves smoulder slowly. Allow the smoke to encircle the stone for about 30 seconds. If it’s been a while since cleansing — or you feel the stone has worked hard —smudge for an additional 30 seconds

Burying in the Earth

A freshly dug patch of soil is said to be a great cleanser for gemstones. Again, be aware of moist presents. Bury your gems in the soil and leave overnight, brushing away any loose soil.

Sound

Just as we can benefit from sounds healing so can our gems. Sound offers gemstones different vibrations they need for cleansing. Playing quality vibrational tones from items like tingsha bells or a singing bowl will hit the key vibrations they need for cleansing.

Rock Salt or Himalayan Salt

Lay your Jewellery on a bed of rock or Himalayan salt for 24 hours, making sure there is no moisture present. The salt absorbs any negative energy. Make sure you throw the salt away afterwards!

All items bought from us come already cleansed, powered and any Jewellery will also be set with the intention as described on the inlay by our own crystal healing practitioner.
